An Elaborate Hoax?...

High drama prevailed in the busy Fort Road market of the city last night when three persons identified a six-year-old girl as Madeleine McCann, a British girl who went missing while on a holiday in Portugal in 2007.

Kate and Gerry McCann's team of private investigators say they are working with police in the northern city of Leh which lies in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.  It’s the northernmost state of India and is situated mostly in the Himalayas.

A British woman raised concerns with other tourists who agreed with her. At one point an American man is said to have tried to take the girl from the couple.

Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for Madeleine’s parents Gerry and Kate McCann, said: 'Our private investigators are aware of the reports from India over the weekend about a possible sighting of Madeleine.  'We are liaising with the Indian authorities over the incident and await the results of the DNA test.'

*****************

How bizarre.  From this report we're led to believe that after four years, the big, bad abductors have taken the child, not only out in public but to a busy market area!  Only English speaking British and American tourists spot the resemblence, no-one else, no-one local.  One tourist is brazen enough to try and kidnap the child!

Are these people mentally challenged?  For a start, they're looking at a SIX year old child.  Hello People, do the math... Madeleline would be EIGHT.  The press are another extremely dim lot - an Indian sighting denotes that the picture of dark skinned, dark haired Madeleine must be used.  Common sense innit?  I mean she could never be fair coming from French/Belgian parentage.   Is the simple American man banged up for attempted kidnap?  If not, he should be.

There is no reported contact between the PJ or Scotland Yard and their Indian colleagues.  Only the private dicks are on the case - Clarence Mitchell is very vocal about this fact.

This appears to be yet another innocent child and family caught up in the fallout from the McCann saga.  Imagine the horror and fear, not only of the parents but the child herself.  And it's only just begun.  What was probably a family holiday (unlike the McCanns, these parents were with their child) has been thrown into chaos by these idiots, taking unwanted photos, attempts to take the child, arrest, confiscation of passports and being called suspects in the press. They now have to spend their precious time in a police station, being subjected to tests to prove that their daughter is their own.

It beggars belief.  If it's true.

Latests reports indicate there is no such child, no such sighting.

Clarence Mitchell says "so far, unfortunately there is nothing to suggest that this sighting is any more credible than many others."  He adds meat to the bones by claiming that it's all systems go... the Team are liaising with the Indian authorities and are actually awaiting the DNA results. However, contradictory reports are surfacing from the Leh Chief of Police who says he's not been approached by anyone regarding DNA tests and that the sighting is false.

Is Mr Mitchell lying?  Or just in Cuckoo Land, having a senior moment? Perhaps he confused the search for the Yeti...  Says it all really, about this and every other reported sighting of Madeleine.

Fact or fiction... real or or a very detailed hoax... you decide.  I hope for the child and family in question, it's false.  Which leads me on to ask... who and why and wth is going on?

** 28.07.11 This sighting has apparently now been dismissed by the McCanns.  Not by ruling out DNA as Mr Mitchell suggests, but after the McCanns were shown a picture of the child.  A very quick dismissal indeed.  And very confusing as the local police don't appear to be involved whatsoever.

  1. If ... and only if this was a sighting, it flags up one thing, to those that have closely followed this case

    IT'S THE ONLY SIGHTING

That ''Madeleine'' the book achieved as an awareness. Or is this the only information the public are privvy to.

As much as Mr and Mrs McCann endeavour to raise their hopes, cash and awareness, they seldom really share the INTELLIGENCE\INFORMATION that comes in to them.

Perhaps the Indian sighting, can be take as a yardstick.

    Not a lot !

  2. Mitchell did NOT say they were awaiting DMA results, if you listen to the recording he specifically says they have not been asked for any dna material and basically know nothing.

Instead of always claiming that Mitchell writes these stories, it would be more intelligent and much more interesting if you delved into who actually DID. In this case, the man's name is prominently displayed on the original report from India.
Ask him - he will know.
He should also know if there was a photo sent ot the Mccanns. Any of you supposed sleuths got the balls to actually do this?

  3. The first article on this hoax published on the 23rd. I go with the police who have no record of this incident having taken place. One only has to look and see Murdoch has an India Empire and the amount of media outlets he owns in DEHLI India to know how this charade was set up. Mitchell is just the mouthpiece , the middle man, he does as he is told. The idea I believe was to take the heat away from the days breaking news. Sarah Paynes mother also a victim of NOTW hacking BUT great to see the McCanns no longer have that media pull even with MURDOCH as their Godfather.

I have the balls to do anything unlike the McCanns who hide behind PR Gurus and use the press to try and 'clear' their name.

    Article..

    Leh, July 23

High drama prevailed in the busy Fort Road market of the city last night when three persons identified a six-year-old girl as Madeleine McCann, a British girl who went missing while on a holiday in Portugal in 2007.

The infamous case had hogged limelight when Madeleine disappeared in May 2007 while she was holidaying with her parents and siblings in the Algarve region of Portugal. The minor girl went missing from an apartment a few days before her fourth birthday and has still not been found. According to the Wikipedia and various web portals, Madeline’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann had stated that they had left the children unsupervised in the ground floor bedroom while they were at a restaurant about 120 metres away.

Last night, a British woman saw a French woman with her Belgian husband roaming in the market with a girl who looked like Madeleine. She immediately informed the British police and the Leh police. The local police has taken the passports of the suspects for verification.

The missing girl’s parents have set up a website where they have put up her pictures that were taken in 2007 and also pictures of how she would look like as she would grow up.

As the British woman shared her suspicions with few others and took a picture of the girl, an American youth -- who was also following the couple -- tried to take away the girl from them. He later told the police that he suspected the girl to be Madeleine. Another American woman also shared the suspicion.

The French woman, however, rubbished their claims, saying that she and her husband were the biological parents of the girl.

A local police official said there was worldwide alert for Madeleine and it would be a great honour for the Leh police to find the missing girl. “However, it all depends upon the evidence like DNA for which help from Madeleine’s parents and the British police was required

  4. To add, I spoke to Scotland Yard yesterday morning and they also had no knowledge of said 'sighting' and had not been asked by Dehli police for any DNA evidence as the article suggests they would have been...I also asked them to question Mitchell about this hoax, they assured me they would. However, the MET are corrupt and most of them are in the pocket of Murdoch . I do hope to hear back from the officer I spokewith who seemed very surprised to have not heard anything as the event took place on the 23rd or there abouts.

  6. It's all rather amazing, as much a TM have given us to believe there were many sightings of possible stalkers prior to the disappearance, and the comings and goings of Hewlett etc.

When you cut to the chase the LAST PEOPLE TO SEE what was probably Madeleine McCann, are the Smith family. And we all know what Mr Smith thought.

Since then, there has been NOTHING

Four years of hype, four years of PRIVATE investigatorS, mega money. The eyes and years of the world and their police forces will and able to respond - as they have.

And what is there NOTHING, not even this India sighting is even plausible.

  7. And still the Daily Mail have a front page story on this rubbish as if it actually happened when they know that the Indian police have stated that the story is totally untrue. If there had been a photograph taken then be sure one of the papers would have published it. But along with NO photo, No names of anyone connected with the story the Mail states that the McCanns have been shown this photo and decided it wasn't Madeleine. If the story HAD been true then the couple and the child would have been able to prove or disprove their relationship by dna testing the three of them WITHOUT any recourse to the McCanns at all.
    Talk about irresponsible journalism!!
